Some people think meetings are not always important. However, I personally believe that meetings are significant for the following reasons.
First, we can exchange our ideas in meetings to improve these ideas or to motivate ourselves. To give an example, when I was a student in Tokyo University, Japan, I wanted to be a researcher in an international pharmaceutical company, and I needed to pass interviews in English, but I was not good at speaking English. So, I created a study group with 5five students and an English teacher. We talked about various things from our favorite sports to politics and economics in English, and then the teacher gave us a lot of feedback on pronunciation, intonation, and the use of expressions. He also reminded us how to speak confidently with body gestures and eye contact. We also exchanged opinions to know the pharmaceutical industry deeply. If I had not joined the study group and had justonly studied by myself, I could not have improved my English skills and had got my dream job. As the example above demonstrates, meetings provide us a great opportunity to improve our ideas and to exchange knowledge.
In addition, In theory, business people can communicate well without face to face meetings because technological development, such as email and Skype, supports us. However, in reality, face -to -face meetings is must when businessmen discuss important deals. For instance, almost all executives always meet clients or counterparts when they need to make a critical decision or to discuss significant topics. When I start to deal with a new business partner, I also make a rule to see him directly him even if he lives far from here. This is because meetings make us trust each other. Consequently, it is important for a business person to meet clients or colleagues.
In conclusion, meetings are significantly important.
