This is a report on what I learned during my community involvement project. The place where I went mainly is on the 2065 Jacques-Cartier. It’s an organization that helps people in need by selling products at a low price. The organization is next to the church Saint-Jean Baptist and works for it since its beginning. All the holidays at this place are important. They usually put the products on sale and give a lot of gifts. As an example, at Christmas, everything was half price and they gave a gift ato all of the children.

Honestly, I decided to work for this organization instead of another for someveral reasons. First, because it’s close frtom my home, so I could go there by walking without disturbing my parents. Second, I often go there giving away my stocks that I don’t need anymore or clothes which are too small for me. When I go there, I talk a little bit with the people who work there and I find them really nice and respectful. The last reason, it’s because the community is in my district so I could help and meet different people who are close from my home.

This organization addressed a specific problem. It takes care of the family or people who don’t have a lot of money and it helps them to survive by giving products to a low price. When I was there, I tried to help people to find what they needed, I put and lined up supplies and I was sometimes the cashier. The Christmas sale was an experience that impressed me. It wasn’t a sale like the others because there was the entire volunteer with all the clients in the same time and everybody was happy.

I learned a lot even if it was in a short period of time. First, I learned that the people in need could be very happy even more than rich people. Second, this organization and maybe others are very organized because of one thing, each persoplen haves their own responsibilityies. For example, me, I had my responsibilities and another volunteer had his responsibilities. Besides, I learned that helping others is very rewarding and fulfilling.

To conclude, I think it’s a very good experience. From my point of view, help people in need is very interesting and rewarding. Personally the voluntary work is beneficial and very useful. It’s not difficult and it helps a lot theof poor people in the society. In my opinion, if someone who in the future is looking for a potential place to go and live in Terrebonne or in the surroundings, I recommend this place to him or her.
