Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of sensor nodes to collect useful information scattered in a field of interest. These networks need networks protocols to minimize energy consumption and latency. Today, WSN designing is one of the essential challenges in wireless communications for achieving low power and energy consumption. In this thesis, the main objective is to reduce power consumption of WSNs using Hamming codes. Hamming codes are applied to detect and correct errors in data communications. We apply the adaptive coding idea to design a library of adaptive Hamming codes to reduce the power consumption by assuming fading channels between transmitters and receivers, which means that fading multiply will be constant in the length of a block transmission to reduce the power consumption. Furthermore, we convert channel to a BSC channel by hard decision between transmitters and receivers to make upper bound where is spotted as P for hamming codes. Thus, we use upper rate codes with lower extra bits for power consumption reduction in hamming codes.
