In today’s society, Aspirin is used as a drug to reduce the severity of bodily aches and pains. The development of Aspirin progressed from the use of the scientific method. For example, Hippocrates knew the bark and leaves of the willow tree would assist in relieving pain from making observations and evaluations, also known as part of the scientific method. As the production of Aspirin evolved, several side effects caused further experimentation, which, in turn, made Aspirin a more adequate medication. The scientific method greatly influenced the progression of Aspirin over time and is still impacting the way Aspirin is used today.
The concept of the scientific method will be used throughout my nursing career.
For example, when giving a patient medication, observation and evaluation will be used to see if the medicine performed as it should and if the patient is healthy enough to proceed home. The use of the scientific method will be used for any medication a patient may be given. Additionally, Aspirin will be given to the various patients that come along throughout my career. Knowing what the use of Aspirin is and the side effects that may be seen in a particular patient will be extremely important. Overall, the scientific method is an extremely important part of not only science, but medical research and will play a significant factor in my medical career.
