Narrative report on Nugal fee waiver beneficiaries.
Out of 1447 supported by GEC in Nugal region, 11 girls dropped out from the schools, (Primary and secondary) 6 of them were from grade 8 ,girls who were supposed to pass to secondary schools, 3 of them were from primary schools, and 2 of them were from secondary schools. 16 grade 8 girls succeeded to pass to secondary schools where only 4 of them went to GEC target secondary schools. (Alwaha and Eyl secondary) Also the girls who passed from Form two to Form three are 25 girls. The girls who have been transferred from one GEC target school to another GEC target school are 3.
Based on the above calculations after the primary schools replaced the girls who passed to secondary schools or dropped out from schools, the number of fee waiver beneficiaries for Nugal Region will become 1449 girls this year and there will be two extra secondary girls, . bBecause there are 4 Grade 8 girls who passed to GEC target secondary schools and 2 girls who dropped out from the secondary schools which will not be replaced, so that is where the surplus girls are coming from.
Founded on this information the new fee waiver beneficiary girls who we need to verify in the schools are 25 girls in primary schools , and 4 Form One girls in secondary schools.
In addition there are 2 primary girls and 1 secondary girl who have been transferred from GEC target school to another GEC target school which may need to verify and meet in the schools although, I have contacted their parents and the schools they have been transferred to, through the phone.
Efforts to bring back the dropout girls:
Initially the number of girls which schools submitted as drop outs were 13 but after I called the telephone numbers of the girls I was able to find out two girls whoave moved to another GEC target schools . So the dropped out girls are now 11 as I have mentioned above. I have called the telephone numbers of these 11 girls and I didn't succeed to bring back any of them, because some of them their phone numbers are off, some of them their parents told me that their girls are either away or sick and not able to come back to schools, where. sSome of them, their telephone numbers we have in our database or even from the schools ,are wrong numbers which belong to other people.
Similarly I have contacted the girls who graduated to secondary schools to make sure which schools they passed to.
Apart from my efforts to track down these girls and bring back them back to schools, I have also asked the head teachers and the CECs to do efforts to bring back these girls to schools, but all of them confirmed that they have tried and were not able to bring them back.
We will do any further efforts to bring back these girls to schools if we can, but still even if we bring back some of them to schools which is unlikely, that will not change our fee waiver beneficiary number in Nugal region. and It still it will be 1449 this year unless some of them drops out, because the 2 girls who dropped out from the secondary schools cannot be brought back to schools in any circumstances, because their parents confirmed that, so we will still have 2 extra in secondary schools.
