iIntellectuals: This term is used to described mental workers. This word made its first appearance in 1920s, when Mao categorized intellectuals to capture the class locations and politics of educated Chinese. Intellectuals was not a common term of social classification before 1949. In 1950s, tThought Reform normalized the CCP classification of intellectuals and placed different groups in different relations to the category. Intellectuals have also been viewed as different characters and thought to be performed different activityies by CCP during different times. Before the 1950s, intellectuals were asked to learned from and serve the masses. Then intellectuals were perceived intellectuals was trying to subvert the party, therefore intelleacting as as threat to party. iIn anti-rightist movements prompted silencing of intellectuals, while cultural revolution suppressed intellsamectuals. Intellectuals were rehabilitated in Deng's era but tightened control over media and public discourse. In today's society, intellectuals nowadays are working hard to encourage political reform.
