In Wangari, Maathai’s chapter, “Epilogue: Canopy of Hope”, she describes how unprepared she was when the Norwegian Ambassador called her to break the news of the Noblel Peace prize that hasd been awarded to her and the lifelong fruitless effort which she had no idea ofthat somhe was beoineg watched with her lifelong fruitless efforts.

Throughout her chapter, Maathai discusses the symbolism of trees, the peace and hope they give. She also gave meaning to the grounding of a tree. In addition, she also explainsed the need to recreate democracy in line with culture for the peace and security to be maintained by respecting rules of law, human rights, justice and equity and resource management.
