Although I actively research different cultures and love listening to stories from my friends from different cultures, I still believe I am no closer to cultural precompetencecompetence. When I was going through jr. high and high school I only wanted to attend the schools that were more diverse because when I didn't, I felt likethat I wasn't learning anything new about people. I believe memy going to extremely diverse schools is what helped to develop my interest in learning other cultures. I recall times when we would get together and bring dishes that were specific to our lifestyle. In order to move closer to the cultural competence category, I will begin to apply some of the things I have learned from the different cultures in my everyday life and decision-making. I will take my time to consider how a different culturesculture would handle my situation and decide if that way is possible for me.
