My name is Kaila Nork and I’m writing this essay in the hopeshope of gettingbeing accepted for one of the scholarship offers. To me, receiving such a scholarship would be a great benefit. I see musical arts and performance as an expressional outlet, rather than an assignment I have to do daily. I come into school excited to play, and leave my class energized for the classes later in that day. I am applying for the South Suburban Band Camp. I hope to learn how to work well in groups with other musicians, while also developing my individual musicianship. My primary instrument is the violin, but I also play the guitar, ukulele, and a bit of piano. I have been taking private lessons for almost 2 years and I am part of a private Bluegrass/Irish tune group composed of 5 violinists. I have been studying under the books of the Suzuki series, playing mainly classical music. Although my roots are mainly classical, I have been stemming off into Rock, Irish, Bluegrass, Pop, Jazz, and more. I hope the music camp I am applying for will further inspire me to create and play all kinds of music.
