I think this article deals with a very interesting topic because being a manager is not an easy task, so it’s good to learn how to deal with those issues. CaringGenuinely caring about the potential and the motivation of a good employee is the proof that you are a good manager. The two solutions proposed by Johnson are smart because if an employee lacks of motivation, then hehe/she needs a new challenge, and maybe gettingeven to move out of hishis/her comfort zone or to leave the company because hehe/she has nothing new to learn herethere or contribute. As a manager, I would absolutely apply thosethese managerial techniques, even if I have to encourage a good employee to leave the company. As a manager, I think it’s more interesting to workingwork with motivated people and help them increase their skills than to work with people that have nothing new to learn with you. However, I can understand that some employees are not interesting to leaveinterested in leaving a comfortable place because everyone is different and has different needs. That’s why, I think that you can’tone cannot oblige someone to face challenges or learn something new.
