During freshman year, I discovered my ability to effectively help others understand mathematical concepts. I put this skill to use by being a tutor throughout high school.
I initially tutored a junior from a neighboring high school in Algebra who had failed the class multiple times. From this experience, I came to a quick realization that I had to simplify my complex explanations. I also noticed that he easily lost concentration. Therefore, I encouraged him to always communicate with his teacher about any classroom distractions during test days.
Subsequently, my junior and senior years were spent helping a 6th grade girl with her daily assignments. During each hour session, three times a week, I have been dedicated to helping her understand her math homework, improving her writing in science and history, and preparing her forfor her upcoming exams.
