On June 6, The Examiner published a letter to the editor from Mr. Curtis Bolt, Jr. about reality-based television. Mr. Bolt statedcited the need for caution in scheduling programs because of the negative affectseffects these programs may have on young children. As a result, our president, Mr. Alfred P. McRay, invited the classmates of Mr. Bolt's son to visit our studio. This is how Mr. Bolt described the tour.
Like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, we had a feeling that we were no longer in Kansas when we pastpassed through the magic portals of Station KVRT. The maze of camera equipment, sets, miniature cities, and sky-scrapers appeared to be twenty stories tall. Everyone's favorite department was makeup.
Lunch was especially enjoyable tofor the young, enthusiastic visitors because many teenage stars waswere eating at the same time and didn't mind being asked for autographs.
Our tour also had a serious side. The children learned to never try the jumps, falls, or other stunts that they see on television because these actions are performed by professionals.
We thank Station KVRT for a fun, educational session.
