From my understanding, preoccupation with ambition can often lead to destruction, affecting an individual's moral constraints. William Shakespeare’s play, ‘Macbeth’"Macbeth," written in 1606, is a representation of the stereotypical beliefs the Jacobean audience held towards Scotland. They viewed Scotland as a barbaric country, full of murder, mayhem, and witchcraft. In this manner, Macbeth also examines the idea of corruption and how easily itone can be led astray by ambition. This is elaborated through Lady Macbeth’s obsession for power, the destruction of relationships, and Macbeth’s extreme guilt that shows his inability to think clearly and make rational decisions. It is these frailties of human weaknessesweakness that often bring a downfall, such as the character of Macbeth, often initiated by the desires of ambition allowing an individual’s moral constraints to be affected.
