1. Which philosophical movement discussed in the lectures of this week is most recognizable in our HERE and NOW? Explain how it can be identified in our current culture/society/politics.



The philosopherphilosophical movement I see mostly in society is existentialism focusing on personal responsibility and individual freedom and the creation of meaning in a world that shows us the answers to our questions. You can see this in our culture today: people talking about choosing their own truth, finding themselves and living authentically, which are all existentialist ideas. When applying it to social media politics there is a big emphasis on self-defense over stable moral systems. This reflects exist, existentialistsexistentialists believe that we are making choices and do not rely on external authorities to define our purpose. Today's cultures focus on expressing ourselves and personal meaning highlights how deeply existentialist thinking has formed our present time.

2. Which philosophical movement discussed onin our lectures of this week did you find most interesting? Explain why.




The movement I found very interesting from the lecturelectures was absurdism, – it’s so interesting to see how humans will always search for meaning in a world thethat guarantees nothing. I found it interesting because instead of telling us not to give up, it makes us face the actual truth while still choosing to live with purpose. The picture of the mother feeding the baby shows me the rebirth of human beings in their thought process. The rebirth of humans feels realistic because it doesn’t pretend life is easy, but it encourages resilience and creativity. It stood out to me the most because it explained why people today I live in their lives from day-to-day in order to achieve something meaningful.
